Stock Up Like a Boss: Use This Tip to Increase Your Amazon FBA Inventory Limit Every Time
Jan 15, 2023In this quick tip, I'm going to show you how to increase your Amazon FBA Maximum Inventory Level during the most critical time of the year, Q1/Q4. This technique worked twice for me within the past 30 days.
It happens every year around Q1/Q4 that your Maximum Inventory Level starts to fall significantly, with some dropping more than others, and it is likely that, towards the end of Q1, your numbers will begin to rise again - but you don't want to wait that long. If you Google "how to increase my inventory limit on Amazon?" - you'll start finding articles telling you to ...
- Go reduce your excess inventory - long-term objective
- Fix stranded inventory - long-term objective
- Check product reviews - doesn't make sense
- Liquidate long-term storage items - long-term objective
- Prioritize your most profitable and best-selling products - long-term objective
- Create FBM listing - short-term solution
- Cancel active shipment plans - this will not work if your Utilization quantity (UG) is greater than your Maximum inventory level (MIL), i.e. 2500 (UG) > 1500 (MIL). I cancel my active shipment plan of 500 units, bringing up my MIL to 2000, still short.
Here's what I did to increase my Amazon Restock Limit Every Time
STEP 1: Screenshot your In-stock rate. This number should be bad because Amazon is restricting your shipment, therefore impacting this metric. My IPI score is normally 600+.
STEP 2: Enter a support ticket to request them to increase your Inventory Level with the information below AND the image.
You must include the following information: (copy and paste with your answer)
* Is the increase request for the current quarter or next quarter?
* The storage type of increase (Standard/Oversize/Footwear/Apparel):
* Is this for a restock limit increase?
* Desired inventory limit (in cubic feet):
* Existing storage limit (in cubic feet):
* A detailed business justification for the increase.
* Provide the impacted FNSKUs:
STEP 3, Wait a few hours and you should see a similar response below and can take anywhere between 1-10 days before you see your Inventory Limit increase. While you wait, start packing because you'll have 7 days to create a shipment.
Increase Inventory Limit with Storage Limit Manager
I personally have not used this, but with Storage Limit Manager, you can request more storage space—potentially at no additional cost, with performance credits based on sales.
Summary
The biggest Amazon sales kill joy is stockouts, having no inventory in stock! This is costly because it ultimately means "restarting" your traffic engine to drive up the sales velocity. Learn and adjust so that this would not happen again.
Some options to stay on top of this Inventory Issues
- Try SoStocked. Here's an inventory management software that can help you forecast, manage and track. Chelsea Cohen has a lot of great content.
- Try setting your replenishment alert on Amazon here. Select your items > Set Replenishment Alert. I typically recommend about 8 - 10 weeks of coverage. This gives you time to plan/pack/ship and Amazon to inventory (can take 2-6 weeks).
